Joins specialist rigid multi-layer and flexi-rigid PCB company in its 50th anniversary year.

Stevenage, UK…9 August 2022: Stevenage Circuits Ltd, one of Europe’s largest and most technologically advanced rigid multi-layer and flexi-rigid PCB manufacturers, today announced the appointment of Christoph Boueke as Managing Director. With a long career in the electronics industry, he brings to the role over 24 years of progressive senior management experience in the UK, Germany and North America.

Boueke will also play a key role in adding the experience within the Trackwise Group of companies, of which Stevenage Circuits became a member in 2020. He comments: “Stevenage Circuits focuses on producing complex PCBs for demanding industries such as aerospace, space, communications, medical and automotive. We therefore share many customers and potential customers with our sister company, Trackwise Designs, specialists in flexible printed circuit technology. I believe that Stevenage Circuits can play a major role within the Trackwise Group, adding to the capabilities we offer to customers globally.”

It's a pleasure and very exciting for me to be a part of the Trackwise Group and especially Stevenage Circuits Ltd. to grow our European and global presence and expand our high-end UK services”, he adds.

Boueke joins as Stevenage Circuits is celebrating its 50th anniversary. “We are a trusted part of the electronics eco-system”, he explains. “Today, many customers are looking to re-shore production of vital components such as PCBs. We have a total manufacturing capability in the UK, which is extremely attractive to customers wishing to control quality, and also for those whom sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of their production is important, as for many companies this is now a defined goal and commitment within their roadmap and company policies. However, within our portfolio, we can also project-manage PCB production in lower cost manufacturing areas, for applications that demand this approach.”

About Stevenage Circuits

With a trading history of over 50 years, Stevenage Circuits offers a complete rigid multi-layer and flexi-rigid PCB manufacturing capability from its UK headquarters in Stevenage, UK. The 7,000m2 facility also houses manufacture of the Tru-lon range of RF and microwave filter and antenna products. Key dates for your diary – be prepared and minimise disruption.

Story posted 20/11/2020

Latest News Image

There are two key dates fast approaching which heighten the risk of disrupting business as usual unless planned for - Brexit and the Chinese New Year

Brexit

Brexit officially comes into effect as of 1st January, 2021.  At present there is confusion as to what impact, if any, Brexit will have on movement of trade across UK borders. As there is no clear directive at present, we have been advised to expect an increase in delays with goods entering or leaving the country and to plan accordingly.

Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year public holiday is between February 12th – February 26th, 2021 when production and logistics throughout China will be seriously affected and can start 1 week earlier and continue 1 week later as many Chinese travel to be with their families. In previous years all exports from China have been understandably disrupted and with potential delays in customs etc. we feel that 2021 will be worse than ever.

Minimise disruption – plan for success

As much of our raw material is imported from China, to mitigate any impact on your programme of works, we are recommending ordering four to six weeks earlier than usual if possible. The deadline for Chinese Air freight is the order needs to be placed by the 11th Jan latest (depending upon product lead-time) to be despatched on the 5th Feb from China.

Please talk to us about holding extra stock in preparation for disruption so long as it is allocated to orders.  It is better to adapt orders and timelines in advance rather than risk production being unduly disrupted.

Just as important we have most materials in stock as many of our long-term customers have given advance notification of requirements enabling us to secure raw material without risk, and we continue to be receiving goods from our supply partners.

Of course, like all businesses the effects of the virus is having an impact.

We are fortunate in that around 20% of our staff can work from home to lessen the risk of transmission as much as possible.

We continue to abide by all good hygiene practices to minimise inadvertently spreading the virus within our team, and we are doing everything in our power to reduce the impact to our business without putting any undue risk on any of our team.

The overall effect is that our business is currently operating at approximately 90% capacity in manufacturing, but we will advise you of any drastic change.

We trust and hope that you and everyone in your business are well and the impact of this awful virus is minimal.

Kind regards.

Total consideration of up to £2.5 million supported by £5.9 million fundraising

Tewkesbury, UK: Trackwise Designs has acquired Stevenage Circuits Ltd, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of short flex and rigid printed circuit boards, for up to £2.5 million. The deal enables Trackwise to increase production of its Improved Harness Technology™ (IHT), as well as expand its customer base and boost technical, sales, and operational expertise.

Trackwise’s IHT is based on a proprietary roll-to-roll manufacturing process that eliminates traditional size limitations for flexible printed circuits (FPC). IHT enables Trackwise to produce multilayer FPCs of any length for demanding applications such as aircraft, industrial, or automotive wiring, as well as medical devices, entertainment equipment, scientific instruments and consumer products.

The remaining proceeds of the £5.9 million fundraising will be used to fund additional capacity and capability as well as capital to support growth initiatives including the continued development of Trackwise’s intellectual property and knowhow.

Philip Johnston, CEO of Trackwise, commented, “We are pleased by the significant support shown by existing and new investors. The acquisition of SCL extends our manufacturing capabilities, providing us with the capacity to deliver IHT series production, while diversifying our revenue streams and customer base. The SCL team brings additional depth to our technical, sales and operational expertise and we look forward to welcoming them to Trackwise.”

Stevenage Circuits gain Cyber Essentials Accreditation

Story posted 21/02/2019

Latest News Image

Stevenage Circuits Ltd are proud to announce that it has been assessed and certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme test specification.

A primary objective of the UK Government's National Cyber Security Strategy is to make the UK a safer place to conduct business online and all suppliers must be compliant with the new Cyber Essentials controls if bidding for government contracts which involve handling of sensitive and personal information and provision of certain technical products and services.

To achieve this, CREST was engaged by CESG (now known as the NCSC), the information security arm of GCHQ, to develop an assessment framework to support the Government's "Cyber Essentials" scheme, which forms a key deliverable of this strategy.

By deploying these controls, organisations can defend against the most common form of basic cyber attacks originating from the Internet.

The Cyber Essentials scheme identifies some fundamental technical security controls that an organisation needs to have in place to help defend against Internet-borne threats.

Nikon video measuring machine becomes the mainstay of PCB manufacturer’s inspection department

Story posted 16/03/2018

A Nikon Metrology video measuring machine has successfully taken over the quality control of printed circuit boards (PCBs) at Stevenage Circuits Limited (SCL) after the graphics card failed in a piece of similar equipment from another supplier. The new iNEXIV VMA4540 is used virtually continuous for 2-D optical coordinate measurement of machined features and copper tracks. It underpins not only first article inspection of boards and printed reports for customers, but also process control in the drilling, etching and routing departments.

Alternatives to a replacement video measuring machine were evaluated, such as table-top varieties of measuring cameras and coordinate measuring machines. Even the possibility of subcontracting first article inspection to an external bureau was considered. However, it was decided that established in-house procedures and control would need to remain, so Robert Brown, owner and managing director of SCL and James Pickett, quality engineer, set about sourcing the best equipment for their requirements with productivity and affordability being key.

“We were influenced by Nikon’s name as a manufacturer of top quality cameras and optics, you could tell the difference between their equipment and the competition’s during trials which we carried out.”
